Clear skies and perfect sailing conditions made the 31st annual Tall Ships Festival in Dana Point a treat for thousands of spectators, including many Newport Beach residents who made the drive for the beautiful boats. The ships maneuvered into positions to engage in mock cannon battles to the delight of the passengers on board. The Festival was hosted by the Ocean Institute of Dana Point, a community-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to research and education.
