The 21st annual Balboa Island Parade kicked off the month of June on the Island on a bright, warm perfect day. This year’s theme, Star Spangled Islands, attracted over one hundred entrants ranging from vintage autos and army vehicles to school bands, local politicians, Labrador Retrievers and their attendants, Pearl Harbor survivors and Indian Princesses and Indian Guides. Rock bands and dance groups (hip hop, swing, and Aloha hula dancers) entertained the crowd of enthusiastic flag wavers that lined Marine Avenue.
