A very special luncheon was held this week at Marche Modern restaurant hosted by South Coast Plaza, celebrating the kick-off of the world premiere of the “Reflections” project, a dance partnership between the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the Bolshoi Ballet of Russia.
As a Spanish guitarist played in the background, choreographers and Bolshoi dancers with the help of translators mingled with the select group of guests and media in attendance, including Christina Lyon and guest Tanya Williams, Richard and Mary Cramer, Mary Harward, Eve Kornyei, OCPAC president Terry Dwyer, OCPAC executive vice president Judy Morr, Sergei Danilian, president of Ardani Artists the co-producers of Reflections, costume designer Igor Chapurin, Kathryn Glassmyer, Debra Gunn Downing, Sutton Stracke, Susan Franklin of Bulgari, Eric Finley from Oscar de la Renta and Salwa Cohen from Frette.
The Center has commissioned several new works created by many of today’s leading choreographers which will showcase six top ballerinas trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy.
he premier will be held in Segerstrom Hall Jan. 27-30, after which it will travel to Russia for its European premiere in Moscow later that month.
