Tuesday, Aug. 13

Grand theft. 2:29 p.m. 100 block of Via Yella. Someone stole two watches from the victim’s bedroom at some point last month, though it was just recently discovered. The loss is $36,000.

Commercial burglary. 3:29 p.m. 4500 block of Campus Dr. A Walnut broker associate attempted to rent a car with a fraudulent credit card. The numbers on the card were smoothed over and replaced by fake ones. An employee recognized the fraud and stalled the man until police arrived to arrest him. His bail was $20,000.

Residential burglary. 4:33 p.m. 100 block of W. Promontory Dr. Unknown suspect(s) pried open the front door of a residence and stole jewelry valued at $2,000.

Residential burglary. 7:25 p.m. 100 block of E. Promontory Dr. Unknown suspect(s) managed to pry open the door of a residence and steal jewelry valued at $20,500.
Sunday, Aug. 11

Grand theft. 1:22 p.m. 900 block of Newport Center Dr. Someone stole the victim’s wallet from a coffee shop. The loss is $8,200.
Friday, Aug. 9

Commercial burglary. 6:58 a.m. 2300 block of Newport Blvd. A suspect severed two surveillance camera cables and the front door alarm cable at a business and then broke glass on the front door to get inside. The suspect then cut through the side wall of the ATM and stole $8,000. To end it all, the suspect plugged a sink in the restroom and left the water running, causing minor flood damage.
