Grand theft. 9:14 a.m. 3200 block of Via Lido. An unknown suspect entered an unlocked front gate of a church and removed a ceramic plaque from the outside wall of the church. The stolen item is valued at $15,000
Vehicle tampering. 10:10 p.m. Lake Avenue and 34th Street. An unknown suspect lifted the engine hood of a vehicle and poured sand into the engine block causing $5,500 of damage.
Monday, March 4
Residential burglary. 1:06 p.m. 1800 block of Sherington Pl. An unknown suspect entered a residence through an unlocked sliding door while the victim was sleeping. The suspect stole a laptop and sunglasses.
Sunday, March 3
Burglary. 5:45 a.m. 200 block of Lillie Ln. Responding to a call of a suspicious subject in an underground parking structure in the Villa Balboa community, police found and contacted a Costa Mesa lawn mower, later determining he had broken into several storage lockers in the parking structures. He was arrested and held on $20,000 bail.
Saturday, March 2
Leaded cane. 9:06 p.m. MacArthur and Campus. During a routine traffic stop, police found an expandable baton in the vehicle of an Irvine man. He was arrested an held on $20,000 bail.
Friday, March 1
Contempt of court. 6:36 p.m. 1700 block of Bayadere Terrace. A Newport man violated a restraining order, entering the victim’s residence. He was arrested and held on $15,000 bail.
