During a recent spring visit to observe and photograph wild flowers in the Eastern California deserts, Death Valley was abundant with not only flora, but fauna in the form of many desert animals and the surprisingly resilient Death Valley Pup Fish.  A hold over from the last ice age, these pup fish thrive in huge numbers in a warm water spring that flows out of  the edge of the valley floor and disappears just as quickly into the sand not even a mile downstream.  By day or by night, a visit to Death Valley might just surprise you with the brilliance and fortitude of the creatures and plants that abound in one of the world’s harshest environments.
