The Newport Beach Public Library recently announced that the new Media Center will be open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Media Center is located on the lower level of the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave. The Media Center, which was added as part of the recent expansion of the Central Library, is equipped with ten Dell Optiplex 9010 computers and five iMacs, complete with large 27-inch monitors. Library card holders, age 14 and older, can reserve a workstation for up to four hours to work on a variety of media projects with specialized computer software like Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCad, ProTools, Manga Studio 5, Final Cut Pro, Maya 3D, and a variety of other software for video and sound editing, animation, graphic arts creation, DVD authoring and architectural design.

Online tutorials are available to help customers learn new programs or improve skills. Hardware and software for the new Media Center was funded by generous donations from the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation.

Library card holders who would like to use the Media Center at the Central Library can review the list of software and book an appointment online at newportbeachlibrary.org/services/media.
