Fifteen top junior sailors from all over California traveled to Santa Barbara last weekend for their annual “Skiff Fest” regatta.
While wind was light to moderate all day Saturday, it really kicked up for Sunday’s racing, with steady breezes in the high teens and gusts well over 20 knots.
Tyler MacDonald (NHYC, CDM High) had consistent finishes that put him at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the weekend, but Conner Kelter (NHYC, CDM High), sailing with San Diego’s Paris Henkin, had an impressive 1-4-1-1 on Sunday in the big breezes.
Top local finishers were MacDonald (1st overall, skipper) and Kelter (3rd overall, crew). Other local sailors included Cambell D’Eliscu, Christian Emsik, Charlie Welsh and Wells Drayton.
