A Newport Beach homicide suspect was apprehended in Carson City, Nev., recently, authorities reported this week.
Anthony Thomas Garcia, 56, of Carson City, is currently being detained in Nevada awaiting extradition to California, Newport Beach Police Department reported in a community message on Thursday.
Garcia is a suspect in the homicide of Abelardo Lopez Estacion, 81, who died in his home in the 2300 block of 16th Street on April 11, 2015.
“The circumstances of the death appeared suspicious and detectives have been actively investigating the case for the past 16 months,” the message reads.
On July 28, NBPD detectives apprehended Garcia in Carson City.
It is an ongoing investigation and no further information is being released at this time.
