A local golf instructor has been named one of the Top 25 Instructors in the US by Golf Tips magazine.
Glenn Deck, director of instruction for Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast and Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, was named in the magazine’s inaugural 2012 list for those who have “demonstrated a superior mastery of teaching the game of golf” announced in early November.
“[Deck] has demonstrated a real knack for simplifying the golf swing so that any type of player can improve,” said Ryan Noll, editor of Golf Tips.
The PGA teaching professional also made Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America and has previously been named as Teacher of the Year for both Southern California PGA and Metropolitan Chapter PGA as well as being ranked one of the best teachers in the state by Golf Digest.
“Glenn is undoubtedly one of the most innovative and approachable teaching professionals in golf today,” said Steve Friedlander, vice president of golf for both clubs. “In leading golf academies at Pelican Hill and Oak Creek, Glenn has helped countless golfers lower their scores with technology-enhanced teaching tools and personalized instruction methods, while consistently maintaining a focus on the fun of the game.”
Deck, who has been in the business for more than 25 years, is regarded as one top golf instructors because of his direct approach and his individualized teaching style.
Deck teaches with the goal of developing his students’ individual game, based on their body structure, flexibility, strength, personality and natural motion.
His students are of all ages and abilities, from beginners to tour professional.
“Our Top 25 is both personally and educationally driven to represent your commitment to not only teaching golf to a wide variety of skill levels, but also your willingness to help grow the game of golf as a collective bunch of hardworking teaching professionals,” Noll said.
Deck offers monthly group workshops, junior golf camps, and private lessons at both Pelican Hill and Oak Creek golf clubs.
