Lincoln Elementary School’s 5th-6th grade boys’ flag football team from Corona del Mar will take to the playing field over the winter break for the second year in a row.
After a winning fall season (11-1), the Lincoln team captured the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) – Orange County Division B title with a 14-12 victory over Newport Coast Elementary School in the OC championship final game on Saturday.
Both the Lincoln and the Newport Coast teams now will travel to Fontana to compete in the SCMAF Championship Tournament on Dec. 18-19. A roster of 16 flag football teams from around Southern California are set to compete in the B Division of the double-elimination tournament.
The Lincoln 5t -6th grade flag football team is coached by Floyd “Buck” Schwartz and Kevin Murphy. Team members include Barron Campbell, Sean Feibleman, J.P. Fenmore, Jake Jarvis, J.T. Murphy, Sam Neiger, Jake Pearson, Hunter Rener, Cole Samuels, J.T. Schwartz, Billy Shaw, Nick Smith, Grant Shaw and Ryan Wessler.
The Youth Flag Football League is organized and run by the City of Newport Beach Recreation & Senior Services Department.
