A group of five juveniles have been picking packages off porches in the Dover Shores area recently, police said.
“They were seen by a citizen taking packages off front porches,” said Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Burdette. “They would open them and then walk away with the contents.”
The citizen reported the information to the police and officers were sent out to investigate. Police have arrested three of the five suspected of the crimes and have information regarding the other two, said Burdette.
The juveniles may be charged with grand theft, depending on the value of the items, one of which was a laptop, Burdette said. All or most of the items have been recovered, he added.
