As the Bay welcomes the spring breezes, junior sailing will also get into full swing.

This weekend, Newport Harbor Yacht Club will host the Non-Calm Bowl for the Sabot fleets.  Check in is at 10 a.m. and racing will begin at noon.  A unique aspect of this regatta is that it is managed solely by NHYC’s Junior Board of Directors and other junior volunteers.  It looks to be a sunny weekend with breeze from the south-southwest.

Meanwhile, the Corona del Mar High School and Newport Harbor High School sailing teams will both be traveling to Austin, Texas, to compete for the Mallory Trophy.  CDM and NHHS will compete against 18 other high schools for the National Fleet Racing title.

Our Southern California teams will have to quickly acclimate to the Texas temperatures.  The weather looks to be challenging, with highs in the mid-90s and two days of light breezes.
