Cathie Waters Cardelucci of Corona del Mar was one of two winners of the prestigious Athena award, presented by Central Orange County Alumnae Panhellenic at the 47th Athena Benefit Luncheon held at the Turnip Rose Grand Newport Plaza.
Funds raised at the event will be awarded to outstanding young women graduates of local high schools who are going to colleges and universities with Panhellenic organizations on their campus.
Cardelucci was nominated by the Junior League of Orange County and Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity and was one of 22 nominees for the award.
Cardelucci is president of the Theta Orange County Alumnae and also helps with the chapters at UC Irvine, UCLA and Chapman University and serves as a Theta Foundation volunteer. She is a longtime member of the Junior League of Orange County and has served in many key leadership positions, most notable being the chair of The Christmas Company, which raised a record amount of $347,000 to benefit at-risk children and their families.
