Balboa Yacht Club and the Glass Slipper Guild of the Children’s Hospital of Orange County will be hosting the 11th annual CHOC Regatta benefiting the Children’s Neuroscience Institute on Nov. 6 and 7 at the BYC.

Balboa Yacht Club has been sponsoring this event for 11 years to raise money and increase community awareness of the health care services available at the only facility in Orange County that is exclusively for children.  The funds raised during the Regatta will help ensure that services are available to children of all socio-economic backgrounds as no child is turned away from treatment at CHOC.

Registration for the CHOC Fundraiser Regatta for one-design boats 20 feet and under will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at BYC with a $25 entry fee, and the races will immediately follow registration.  Complimentary appetizers and a no-host bar will be available to all participants from approximately 3:30 to 5 p.m.  After the boats return to BYC, the awards for first, second and third place for Saturday will be presented. A special recognition will be given to the winner of the sail-a-thon for that day, as well.

Registration for boats over 20 feet will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday Nov. 7 at BYC with a $50 entry fee and the races immediately following. The celebration on Sunday will be from approximately 3:30 to 6 p.m.  Complimentary appetizers, a no-host bar, and music will be provided for all racers, BYC members and guests.

The awards ceremony for first, second and third place winners, as well as the winner of the sail-a-thon and CHOC Cup will also take place Sunday following the races. The winner of the sail-a-thon will receive a haul out.

The sail-a-thon is an additional means for those competing to raise the most money for CHOC. It enables entrants to procure sponsorships for both their boats and their crews.  Any and all people are welcome to be a part of the sail-a-thon and sponsor a boat.

A raffle drawing featuring a pearl necklace, Lakers and Ducks tickets, a Duffy boat rental and other donated items will be held Sunday afternoon.

The haul out for the sail-a-thon winner was donated by Basin Marine.  Other donors and sponsors include Ullman Sails of Newport Beach, Walters Wholesale Electric, CED, Elegant Jewelry, Hobie of Dana Point, Duffy Boats, Tommy Pastrami, Basilic Restaurant, Charlie’s Locker, Bayside Motors, Mile Square Golf Course, Volcom and Harbour Electric.

After the races on Sunday, all racers and all BYC members are invited to join in celebrating the research and treatment CHOC provides for 210,000 children every year.
