More than 450 guests arrived at the Balboa Bay Club and Resort last week for Human Options’ annual fall fundraiser, this year featuring Leslie Morgan Steiner, author of the best-seller, “Crazy Love.”
Morgan Steiner shared her terrifying journey of true love turned violent and how she escaped and rebuilt her life.
Human Options’ community educator Robert Diaz shared his passionate work of educating Orange County youth about healthy dating and early signs of abuse.
Co-chairs Scharrell Talley Jackson and Nancy Dahan tell us that all proceeds from the event, “From Love to Fear to Sanity,” which totaled $190,000, will go support Human Options’ mission to help battered women, their families and the community break the cycle of domestic violence.
Attendees also were encouraged to bring accessories and gently used clothing for Human Options’ Classy Seconds re-sale shop in Costa Mesa.
Human Options marks its 30th year in 2011. The organization’s vision is a community in which every woman and every child is safe in their own home every single day. Last year Human Options served more than 20,000 individuals in various programs proven in independent studies to be highly effective at changing and saving lives.
The organization provides a full continuum of services to stop the violence – from prevention and early intervention programs to emergency shelter and long-term transitional housing and follow-up support.
