Newport Beach residents went to the polls on Tuesday, November 5 to vote on three city council races as well as other local races, state representatives and U.S. representatives, as well as President of the United States plus several ballet initiatives.
Results as of 8:30 a.m. on November 6 according to the Orange County Registrar of Voters website, www.OCVote.com.:
In Newport Beach City Council District 2 where current Councilmember Brad Avery is termed out, Michelle Barto was ahead of Nancy Scarbrough 62.10 percent of votes cast to 37.90 percent.
In a competitive and at times contentious Newport Beach City Council District 5 contest, incumbent Councilmember and former Mayor Noah Blom had a decisive lead of 64.41 percent over former City Councilmember Jeff Herdman’s 35.59 percent.
In Newport Beach City Council District 7 where current Mayor Will O’Neill is termed out, Sara Weber was way out in front of Miles Patricola 73.78 percent to 26.22 percent.
In the race for U.S. representative in the 47th District, Dave Min (Dem) trails Scott Baugh (Rep) 49.42 percent to 50.58 percent.
For Member of the State assembly in the 72nd District, former Newport Beach Mayor Diane Dixon (Rep) has a comfortable lead over Dom Jones (Dem) 60.37 percent to 39.63 percent.
