Women clad in 1920s-inspired flapper cocktail dresses, and men in “gangster attire” complete with fedoras and pinstripes stole the show from vintage cars parked at the entrance of the Crevier Classic Cars  at the “OC Barons’ Speakeasy,” the 12th annual fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. The event was organized by the OC Barons’ League, which raised $140,500 in net proceeds to support research for a cure and to aid those in their fight against cancer.

The OC Barons’ Speakeasy chairs Kay Burra and Carol Wilken were joined by more than 200 attendees, with a dozen party-goers from Coto de Caza making a very grand entrance in a Hummer limo that slunk its block-long chassis carefully up to the valet station.  “Bodyguard” Matt Wilken, son of co-chair Carol, manned the door during the reception, only allowing in those who knew the secret password, “VIP.”  Fortunately he didn’t have to bounce anyone!

The car museum’s collection of magnificent autos  — Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Rolls Royces, and more — ringed the dining and dancing area.

Seen bidding (and winning!) some very special auction items were Patricia and Richard Allen, Bobbitt and Bill Williams, Margo and Frank Ferris, Lonnie and Patrick Anderson.  After the auction guests danced to the tunes of Bobby Mustol and Sidecar Jazz, and from the looks of it a roaring time was had by all!

The OC Barons is a special 100-member volunteer group that produces the OC Barons’ Ball each year to raise funds in support of the American Cancer Society’s mission to eradicate cancer. Formerly called the Cattle Baron’s League of Orange County, the organization has raised $5 million in the fight against cancer since 1999.
