Recently, 40 select guests gathered at Fleming’s Newport Beach Wine Cellar to enjoy an intimate evening dining with baseball’s legendary Cal Ripken Jr. and Bill Ripken, including a question and answer time with the Ripken brothers.
It was a unique setting, unlike most fundraisers, designed to feel like the dining room of a baseball clubhouse and a dinner with close friends..
Co-chairs Mike and Joy Porter and Mike Perrella planned the event which raised funds in support of the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, twhich works throughout the country with Boys & Girls Clubs, P.A.L. centers, inner-city schools, and other organizations serving America’s most distressed communities. Led by the Ripken brothers, the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation is reaching out to children who might otherwise never have access to positive mentors or team sports and bringing critical life lessons to those in desperate need of a helping hand and chance to succeed in life.
