Cowboy hats, sawdust, country music, and outdoor barbeque provided the setting for Elks members and guests from the community who made the Newport Harbor Lodge’s annual Western Roundup the most successful in years.
More than $12,000 was raised in their largest fundraiser of the year to benefit children with disabilities and help them with specialized therapy and scholarships.
Included in the festivities were two live country bands, a Western-style dinner, silent auction, dancing and casino play late into the night. The event began with a Sept. 11 tribute to Americanism and to those who lost their lives that day.
A theme-decorated mailbox for the purpose of receiving retired American flags from the Newport Beach community, the first of it’s kind in the Orange Coast District, was made possible by lodge Americanism chairman Missy Lott and was designed and acquired by the Newport Harbor Lodge Americanism committee.
Hugs were shared all around after the mailbox was presented to the public for the first time.
