A Newport Beach-based website that allows consumers to get discounted deals from local business and then donates 50 percent of its profits to Orange County charities launched on Monday.

“Turn great deals into good deeds,” is the website’s slogan.

The website, www.DealGooder.com, offers one discount deal per day to one local business. Consumers can only get that deal if a predetermined number of other buyers also purchase the discounted item through the DealGooder website. The discounts are only good through group purchases and the website encourages consumers to use social media to spread the word. Then 50 percent of the profits go toward one charity per week.

It is a “revolutionary way to feel good about spending,” according to a statement from DealGooder, it’s “one deal a day, one charity a week, unlimited good.”

“We give people a way to save money without giving up on the enjoyable things in life.  Our philosophy is to have fun, do good, help others,” said DealGooder co-founder Cara Mungo.  “We are here to help locals donate their cake and eat it too.”
