    • Suzanne Bradford is a Liar!…She NEVER OWNED HER OWN BUSINESS!!..She was an EMPLOYEE at the “Desert Palms Health and Raquet Club” in St. Georges Utah!!..and there are LEGAL GOVERNMENT REPORTS in the hands of the Newport Beach City Council as EVIDENCE OF YOUR PUPPY MILL BREEDERS!…Summer is not from UTAH either she is from IRVINE and still lives there…

These woman have come to Newport to victimize the wealthy citizens and patrons and flaunt lies such as PRETENDING TO HAVE OWNED A BUSINESS!!… YOU LADIES ARE IMMORAL UNETHICAL CON ARTISTS!!… AND NOT EVEN THE FIRST ONES THAT HAVE COME TO NEWPORT TO RIDE THE BACK OF OUR CITIES PROMINENT CLIENTELE AND REPUTATION AND YOUR WORD IS NOT ONLY FALSE, BUT CRIMINAL….

WELCOME TO THE BUSINESS WORLD BRADFORDS AND SUMMER, WHO HAS ALSO NEVER OWNED A BUSINESS!!… GET YOUR LAWYERS ON SPEED DIAL!!

  1. Is this even a legit journalist doing the interview here? He did not ask her a single question like, who are your breeders? Have you been there yourself? How do you know for a fact that they are not federal law violators? Where DO you get your dogs from specifically? Did you really “hand-pick” them like you claim? Don’t you order them on-line from a broker? What broker? Did you know that your broker is operating without a license? Did you buy dog(s) from Barb Crick? And if yes, why? Did you communicate to your unlicensed broker that you no longer wanted to buy dogs from Crick? Isn’t it true that you only stopped using that broker when it was pointed out to you that your “reputable” breeder SHOT A DOG in the head, killing her? Have you seen the CAPS undercover footage of your breeder’s facility? What do you think of it?

  2. I would really love to hear them answer these questions. They are most important and WE, the Animals, and your store neighbors deserve to know, and your store neighbors won’t look so nieve when they put signs in their windows saying they support you. They only know what you tell them and from this looks of this video, that ain’t much.

  3. Did anyone else notice that as soon as the second woman said the phrase “Getting our puppies from reputable breeders.” she looked away? Common body language cue that means you are being deceitful. Not that there was any doubt of that in the first place…

  4. they both have shifty eyes. but this isn’t about that. it’s that they have absolutely NO clue that they are stealing the lives of dogs waiting to be adopted at shelters. i don’t think these ladies will listen to reason or listen to these protesters points with compassion. they must not love puppies, that’s my guess.

  5. How can people just lie like that? Oh, wait I know, it’s the money to be made off of puppy mill dogs. Just wait till these dogs start to get sick and die, because we all know they will. It’s just a matter of time before someone buys one and it dies.

  6. Puppy Store owners are so good at lies, it’s like they are trained. They all stick those phony “no to puppy mills” signs in their windows. Barkworks does that too and FYI they use the same breeders this store does, so there you go. Again when will everyone get it that no responsible/hobby breeder sells to puppy stores. The other stores are listening to them daily, they are young and naive. They need to google puppy mills and the pet shops connection to them. There will be a documentary on HBO August 24th all about puppy mills. Alot of the dogs dumped at the shelter are from the stupid people that buy puppies on impulse from tacky stores like “I Heart Puppies.”

  7. Dear Suzanne and Summer,

You seem like nice, sincere people. I honestly believe that you love puppies. I hate the thought of your dream store being put out of business.
But if you truly do love animals, you must investigate the source of your puppies. Please, please, please visit petshoppuppies.org, or, even better, pay a visit to some of the “reputable breeders.”

I honestly believe that you don’t know that these puppies are born of torture. Please don’t turn a blind eye to animal suffering.

  8. I agree with Carly that the owners have to answer some tough questions. They just cannot make a statement that they “get their puppies from reputable breeders” and claim it as fact. Maybe they don’t know what a reputable breeder is so I will enlighten them and it will be clear to everyone that they are lying.

    Reputable breeders…

    * Do not sell their pups to or through pet stores. Instead, they personally screen and select homes for their puppies.

    * Do not sell multiple breeds of dogs, since they specialize in one or two breeds.

    * Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the breed’s history, traits, temperament, and conformation. They have years of experience with the breed.

    * Keep their dogs as house pets, so they know that the offspring will be good pets as well.

    * Value their reputation for seeking to improve the breed.

    * Evaluate the health of their pups using sound, standardized genetic and other testing recommended for the individual breed.

    * Provide full, lifetime written guarantees covering genetic disease and temperament problems.

    * Take back the dog at any point in his or her life for whatever reason the purchaser no longer wants or can care for the animal.

    * Place all pet quality animals with a contract requiring the purchaser to spay/neuter the pup!!

    * Provide advice and guidance to purchasers. Interview and usually visit the homes of prospective puppy purchasers, placing pups only with people who demonstrate they can provide safe, responsible homes.

    * Has at least the mother dog on premises and let prospective purchasers observe the dog and her health and behavior. Responsible breeders breed their female dog to the best male, not the most convenient one.

    * Breed only dogs over 2 years old, and breeds the dog only a limited number of times; not every year.

    * Line up qualified buyers in advance of birth of a litter and rarely ever advertise.

    * Do not separate a pup from the mother and litter before 8 weeks of age. Also deworm and vaccinate their puppies.

    * Can provide references for happy puppy buyers.

  9. Thank you for that Fiona.. Excellent and accurate information.. But I think they no exactly what one is and prefer cost cutting for higher profits.. Ms. Bradford said she has owned a business before.. She is an experienced business owner.. I simply do not buy the fact they did not know, but simply they are greedy unconscionable profiteers… What business in ANY industry does not seek knowledge about their suppliers before they choose them.. And her broker has no license.. if she is that irresponsible of a business owner that she puts her consumer health and welfare at stake by supplying the public with diseased live animals that come from an environment that violates USDA regulation, than she needs to be shut down due to health hazards.. I read the USDA violations of her breeders and they are horrific..complete neglect of animals and conditions to prevent disease that through stated condition of several animals is already present.. The type of business calibur in Newport are not naive, negligent, fraudulent law breakers and she does not deserve to tarnish the communities reputation because of her unconscionable greed for her highly profitable dream store.. She does not deserve the status that Newport Beach offers as a quality ethical business community.

  10. I googled the journalist who put together this “EXCLUSIVE!” He seems like a legit journalist, so he clearly at one point knew how to ask challenging questions. Maybe he picked up his new questioning style during his stint with Fox News….

  11. To Summer and Suzanne, I would like to comment on your statement in the second video about the puppies being cute and loving. We are not saying the puppies you buy from a puppy mill are not cute and cuddly. We are saying that the mother of those puppies is living a life of misery day in and day out. She is not afforded the luxury her puppies will be getting when they are purchased.

*She is living her entire life in a small wire crate with just 6 inches of room to turn around in because that is what the law allows.

*She is forced to produce a litter every time she is in heat and then when she can no longer produce puppies she is killed. The puppies she does produce are the result of in-breeding and over-breeding so genetic defects are passed on from generation to generation.

*She receives little or no vet care and sometimes the mill owner practices veterinary care such a C-section without anesthesia.

*She does not get proper nutrition so she and her puppies often suffer from malnutrition.

*She is under constant stress and exhaustion and this too affects her puppies.

*Sometimes her vocal cords are cut to silence her incessant barking by the puppy mill owner shoving a pipe down her throat.

*She receives no human contact and no exercise. Often times her teeth fall out from lack of care or she goes blind or loses a limb because it gets caught in the wire cage she is imprisoned in for life.

    * Her puppies are taken away from her too young to be shipped across country to pet stores. This is extremely detrimental to their well being and often causes personality problems as they grow up. Do you tell your buyers that?

How can you turn a blind eye to these facts? These facts have been documented.

It seems you are motivated by pure greed. You stand behind a USDA statement when we all know how lacking they are in enforcing the Animal Welfare Act. You know you are duping your customers by telling them you do not buy from puppy mills. You know that you purchase your puppies from a broker who gets them directly from a puppy mill….that is FACT! You are making money off the backs of suffering breeding dogs and that is despicable! If you both would like to prove to the readers and your customers that this information is inaccurate and that you have personally visited the place where you get your puppies then by all means please do so. I doubt you will because that is not the truth.

The readers should contact their city council members and ask them to pass an ordinance BANNING THE RETAIL SALE OF CATS AND DOGS! That is happening right now in Irvine against Russo’s pet store and I would urge Corona del Mar residents to do the same. Then just maybe things will change. No demand, no supply! Until then you can expect to see protesters outside your business.

  12. We can all sit here and argue about where their puppies come from.. whether they think they are coming from reputable breeders, or we think they are coming from puppy mills…

Rather why not look at the cold hard facts? These numbers speak for themselves on why this business nor ANY store SELLING puppies should be allowed to operate in Orange County.

Statistcs for our ORANGE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER for 2010
    (source: http://egov.ocgov.com/ocgov/Info%20OC/Departments%20&%20Agencies/OC%20Animal%20Care/Shelter%20Statistics):

Dogs EUTHANIZED: 3,771 (or 10 dogs per DAY)
Cats EUTHANIZED: 9,951 (or 27 cats per DAY)

NO STORE IN ORANGE COUNTY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SELL ANIMALS FOR PROFIT UNTIL THIS NUMBER IS ZERO. Plain and simple. Not only are healthy, adoptable animals being killed, but taxpayers money is being spent to house, feed, and then needlessly kill these animals.

    • @ “Candi” going by your logic, no one should have a child as long as there is even one homeless person out there on the streets.
Shelters kill because they choose to kill instead of proactively finding homes for the adoptable animals. There are approximately 3-4 million adoptable pets killed in US shelters each year. Meanwhile, there are 17 million homes opening up for pets every year.
      http://www.nathanwinograd.com/?p=1390
These kooky extremists want to force everyone to “Adopt” a “rescued” dog….totally ignoring the fact that some of these “rescues” import dogs from eastern Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and China. Yes, one of these anti-pet store drones actually bragged about how her friend adopted a puppy brought in from China by “Dogs Without Borders” here in LA. Never mind the fact that in China dogs are bred for meat, now they will be bred there for the US pet market. But yeah, it’s much better to import dogs from foreign countries with parasites and rabies, than it is to have licensed and inspected US breeders to supply the market demand.
Don’t forget, there is a puppy lemon law to protect consumers who might happen to get a sick pup from a pet store; but there are no lemon laws to protect you from sick dogs you obtain from shelter or rescue groups. Buyer beware!

  13. In part #3.. bradford says that, “This type of disruption should not be tolerated”..? How about the neglect, the starving, the freezing to death in the winter, the roasting alive in record high temperatures in the mid-west and the en-ending torture of these caged up abused dogs, all the while they give birth to your next shipment of future inventory, should NOT BE TOLERATED Miss bradford? THAT is what should not be tolerated Miss bradford.

I DARE YOU AGAIN! I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU!
Publish the names of your breeders and kennels! You won’t because then everyone will know that you have lied to everyone including the citizens of Newport Beach and Corona del Mar. You Lie Miss bradford to cover up your crime of supporting and selling dogs from puppy mills. I have seen the proof. Unethical lying nobodies, go back to Utah!

  14. They sell puppies from cruelty, as a journalist why don’t you talk about that. All those puppies in that store come from puppy mills. The parents of those puppies that are cleaned up live in hell, they will be shot, drowned, dumped in the street or if lucky dumped at the pound when they can’t breed anymore for stores like Ms. Bradfords. Her eyes look like she is lying, get a clue journalist.

  15. This IS a tight nit community Ms.Bradford and it is ours, you just peddle cruelty here!..I am one of the MANY citizens that agree, your business practices have brought disgrace to our community. I was standing outside your store last week while Summer one of the owners made eye contact with me and continued to use a childs bike to push me off of the very sidewalk my taxes pay for.. and when she did not succeed she chose to assult me with it by slamming the tire down directly ON Top of my small feet while looking at me in the eye with disdain. You remember dont you Summer? How you squeezed your way into OUR business community I have no idea.. People like you dont run businesses here.. So dont pretend you are apart of our community we have been building for decades before your arrival 3 whole months ago, because you slipped in by default. Clean up your Business practices or we will make it very clear that your business is a hazard to the welfare and reputation of our respected community.

  16. As I read on I realize that most everyone is upset about these vidos, it does seem strange that the interview was only representing one point of you. Normally interviews show 2 sides of a story. Who is the reporter?

Not very convincing anyways,as we hear roars and honking coming from the crowd in front.

But yes , I would love to have a name for the reputable breeders. Why keep it a secret since they are reputable.
Plus it will help every potential customer do they homework.

I do believe that the store should go humane and do weekly adoptions.

May be they care about the money than the cute puppies….sorry for the ugly ones, by the way.

Wonder what kind of bad experiences Summer is referring to regarding adoptions.

To add to this nonsense, the two of them show so much insincere behavior it is hard to ignore.
Scratching, looking away, monotone memorized speech, it’s just not convincing at all.

By the way reputable breeders, would never sell to a pet store. So that settles that issue.

So please Journalist let us regular people know who you are and what school you attended.

Please Print the name and adress of the “breeder” .

    It would be greatly appreciated.

This whole issue makes me so sad, since we don’t need to produce any more puppies, kittens, bunnies….they are being killed in our shelter even the CUTE ones!!!

Oh and there is a rescue org. in Corona Del Mar.

  17. Names or your Breeders Please.. We are the citizens and the community in which your animals health has a direct impact. We are the ones who come down to the shops walking our dogs enjoying OUR Community. What we will not stand for are deceitful profiteers who have no concerns for the citizens or the community upon which name they ride. Breeders names?.. these are not shoes, they are live animals that are regulated by Government Health Agencies and we would appreciate information on the live animals you are bringing in to our tight nit community. There are concerns of health and welfare that need be addressed.

  18. I don’t know which is worse—-the childish “reporting” or the PR disaster vortex that has Bradford and Gijorian spinning. They look shellshocked, like two shifty-eyed twits caught lying. Do they know how absurd it looks to watch them talk about “support” from the community when the cars are all honking support for the protesters? There were over 150 people outside, participating in the largest animal rights demo in NB’s history.

This isn’t a case of these oblivious Stepford zombies wearing rose-colored glasses, this is a case of total blindness to the facts. They are delusional.

One thing is certain. The Newport SPIndy didn’t do them any favors with this hilarious video trifecta. This looks like refuse on the cutting room floor of a cancelled reality show.

I wonder if Bradford has checked out her broker’s license yet. Have they booked flights to go and visit their “responsible” breeders in the Midwest so they can do their homework that we did for them?

I see they’ve got a chandelier in the ceiling but no sprinkler system. They did the bare minimum under the law. Cheaper that way.

  19. Oh dear lord, I watched the third video. Blaming “I Heart Puppies” for shelter deaths? Shelters in California get PAID BY THE STATE for each animal that they kill.

The State of California PAYS FOR FAILURE – reimbursing shelters for animals that have been “euthanized” in shelters (i.e. KILLED) but NOT for animals that have gotten out of the shelter alive (returned to owners or adopted).

This is the fallout from the “Hayden law”. A law that was meant to
support animal adoption is a disincentive to saving lives.

    http://www.lao.ca.gov/analysis_2008/general_govt/gengov_anl08.pdf#page=103

“The commission found that the cost of caring for the animals that were
adopted or reunited with their owners was not a reimbursable mandate (because owners paid fees to offset these costs). In the case of animals
that were euthanized, however, the commission found that local government
shelters’ cost to care for them for three additional days was a state-reimbursable mandate.”

“In the case of this mandate, the commission created a methodology that
reimburses local government shelters for (1) their increased cost of caring
for the animals that they euthanize and (2) certain minor costs, such as
maintaining lost and found lists. In 2008-09, local governments are expected
to claim $23 million for this mandate.”

“Our review finds no link between the funding provided under Chapter 752 and
programs that encourage animal adoption. Specifically, under the mandate’s
reimbursement methodology, shelters do not get more state funds if more
households adopt animals. Rather, shelters that euthanize the most animals
receive the most state funds. Shelters that are the most successful in
promoting adoptions receive the least state funds.”

    http://www.lao.ca.gov/analysis_2008/general_govt/gengov_anl08.pdf#page=103

What incentive do shelters have to do a good job? As you can see, NONE. It’s very quick and profitable to just kill and get paid by the state for doing it.

  20. Hmmm, demands to close a local, state and federally regulated business. What will the next business be that comes under attack? You anti pet shop people have nothing more to do? We have 12% unemployment and you want to close down a business because YOU think you know what is best for the world…………… WHAT are you doing to attack next since you have so much spare time and money. And this store is not selling an illegal substance………. yikes, how did I ever come across this site all these complaints sound like little kids who know nothing but have been drinking the koolaid served up by PETA………….oops, no it is those people who kill 97% of the animals they get their hands on……….. and you just want to make sure no one gets their hands on a dog or cat. Well I see there are a few sane people who have posted, I must be nuts to add my two cents. At least Katilyn has the real facts straight………..My how the laws have changed, I can remember when a bullet in the head of an animal that needed to be put to sleep was considered the most sensible way to do it. Instant dead is dead whether by shot from a bullet or a shot from some fancy medication. Does it really need to be explained to you that instant dead is instant dead? Frankly it is harder on those doing the deed than it ever is on the animal……..but some of you cannot comprehend such an action in any form………. go talk to your grandparents, your parents forgot to teach you some of life’s truths.

  21. Suzanne Bradford is a Liar!…She NEVER OWNED HER OWN BUSINESS!!..She was an EMPLOYEE at the “Desert Palms Health and Raquet Club” in St.

AND NOT EVEN THE FIRST ONES THAT HAVE COME TO NEWPORT TO RIDE THE BACK OF OUR CITIES PROMINENT CLIENTELE AND REPUTATION AND YOUR WORD IS NOT ONLY FALSE, BUT CRIMINAL….

WELCOME TO THE BUSINESS WORLD BRADFORDS AND SUMMER, WHO HAS ALSO NEVER OWNED A BUSINESS!!… GET YOUR LAWYERS ON SPEED DIAL!!

  22. I AM A TAX PAYER OF NEWPORT BEACH!!…MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS PAY ENOUGH TAXES TO OWN THAT ENTIRE CITY BLOCK… YES!..OWNERS OF CORPORATIONS NATIONALLY AND GLOBALLY, AND ETHICAL ONES!! .

..THE BRADFORDS AND SUMMER GORJIAN SHOULD BE IN JAIL FOR FRAUD AND IN HELL FOR RIDING THE BACKS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY…THEY NEED TO ENTER THE PRISON EDUCATION PROGRAM AND EARN THEIR MONEY LIKE THE REST OF US!!

I have a definition of Puppy Mill for you… it’s the one the Bradfords and Gorjian supplied to Chamber of Commerce in a printed document…

“A Puppy Mill is a breeding operation that produces a large number of puppies and overlooks humane treatment of breeding dogs. Any breeding operation which treats its dogs humanely is not a Puppy Mill.”

“I Heart Puppies” hand picked their breeder Barb Crick who has violations of the USDA, The Animal Welfare Act, and Nebraska Law….Newport Beach City council has this information.

AND THAT MAKES “I Heart Puppies” A PUPPY MILL FRONT COMMITTING BUSINESS FRAUD TO THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND CONSUMER FRAUD TO ITS CITIZENS!!
