About 1,500 people celebrated the season and kicked off the school year last weekend during a local school’s Fall Festival.

Mariners Christian School held the annual event Sunday at the school’s campus.

Students, alumni, staff and community members gathered to kick-off to the new school year.

“The Fall Festival had a wonderful turn out! The food was great, and families enjoyed gathering as a community,” said MCS Family and Student Care Director, Sue Celek. “This is a nice way for families who are new to MCS to begin to build school relationships.”

The event was organized by the school’s Parent-Teacher Fellowship.

“We so appreciate all the hours of hard work from the Fall Festival Committee to create this afternoon for our students and families,” Celek said.

The festival featured fun and fellowship. Activities included bungee trampoline, back draft slide, obstacle course, disc jockey, family photo booth, glitter artist, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and a dunk tank

“It was fun to see many of our middle school students, and even alumni, assisting our parent volunteers at the activity sites,” Celek said. “The Middle School Jazz Band added a lively musical welcome.”

Food was catered by Newport Rib Company and desert provided by Drive Me Cookie, a food truck business owned by two MCS Alumni.

The festival is the school’s biggest family fellowship event of the year.
