A local event producing and marketing organization held a benefit recently in conjunction with Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
Newport Beach based Expo 4 Life Events produced a Wellness Event at Essex Skyline benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Sept. 16.
The event, a follow-up to the 4th Annual Fashion Show Benefit in June, brought together local businesses and restaurants. Prego Ristorante and Bluewater Grill served wine and decadent bites to more than 100 attendees in support of blood cancer research and patient services.
Guests enjoyed a VIP Open House of the penthouse suite available now for lease for $10,000 per month. On the third floor plaza, guests enjoyed massages, acupuncture, health food samples and pampering treatments.
Another LLS event is being held this weekend. Light the Night Walk will be at Angels Stadium on Saturday.
About 10,000 people will walk the event in support of patients fighting blood cancers and in search of a cure.
Supporters and spokespersons for the LTN Walk include Dennis Kuhl, president of Angels Baseball, Hall of Famer Rod Carew, and Evelyn Erives of 99.1FM.
Both Kuhl and Erives were speakers at the fashion show benefit in June.
LLS helps thousands of patients, the press release states, like 2013 LTN Walk Honored Hero, Julia Walker.
Walker, an 11 year-old fifth grader, was diagnosed at age 8.
She received some great news last year, just one month after the 3rd Annual Fashion Show.
“The doctors have told us that Julia has beaten cancer!” her father, Scott Walker, said. “Julia has remained strong and courageous throughout her two-year battle with Leukemia and is a true survivor.”
The 2014 LTN Walk Honored Hero, Caitlin Lyle, was diagnosed with AML on July 1, two weeks after her high school graduation.
“Caitlin is still fighting for her life,” the press release notes.
The company also produces a monthly Taste for A Cause event, bringing 50-100 attendees to top local restaurants to taste wine, spirits and craft beer, all in the name of a good cause.
“Expo 4 Life’s mission is to bring community and business together,” according to a press release. “Working with area restaurants, high-end apartment communities and local businesses, each event they produce raises funds for, and brings about awareness of, a local non-profit.”
