fresh 3A fresh pizza restaurant opened last week in the Harbor View Center and is already a hit with locals.

Fresh Brothers pizza, which has a dozen stores in the Los Angeles area, had the grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony of its first Orange County location, attended by Mayor Rush Hill, council woman Leslie Daigle, Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Steve Rosansky, and other guests.

Fresh Brothers, which is in the space formerly occupied by Z Pizza, offers a California twist on the traditional pizzeria. Using family recipes, Fresh Brothers features a thin crust, a skinny crust and a deep dish pizza. Also on the menu are baked Buffalo chicken wings and salads. Fresh Brothers also has a separate gluten-free menu and many vegan options including vegan cheese.

Customers can order pizzas from the website, the facebook page, and from the Fresh Brothers app.

Fresh Brothers was actually started by three brothers: Scott, Michael and Adam Goldberg, all of whom grew up in the Chicago suburbs in the 1970s.

According to Adam Goldberg, founder and CEO, they had been looking for an area similar to the demographics of their stores in L.A., and finally found it in Harbor View. They had a soft opening of their store twofresh 1 weeks ago, but there was nothing soft about it.

“We opened our doors at 11 a.m. and were busy all day,” he said “We’re something new you can’t find in Newport, which is a true old school mid-west pizza. What makes Fresh Bothers different is not only the care we put into the pizza, but also the staffing and service. We treat our customers the way we want to be treated. We make an excellent product, we hire local high school and college students to work as cashiers or delivery drivers.”

“One of the biggest parts of our success in the L.A. area is how we’ve been involved in the community,” he added. “That’s really what we wanted to do, give back to the community. We work with charity organizations and do donations and fundraising events in our store and outside of our store. We found that if we give to the community, they give back to us.”
