We were introduced to Celebrity Cruises earlier this year at the kickoff party for OC Restaurant Week at Newport Lexus, and learned that 10 of the cruise line’s restaurants have received Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence,” which we consider an impressive feat.
And so, we’re equally impressed that Celebrity Cruises is launching its Great Wine Festival this Saturday, May 31, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Great Park in Irvine.
According to the press material we received, the event will feature more than 40 premium wineries, craft breweries, spirits companies, and award-winning restaurants.
Wineries and breweries represented include Cakebread, Jordan, JUSTIN, Grgich Hills, Freemark Abbey, St. Francis, Louis-Jadot, Zaca Mesa, Kendall Jackson, Round Pond, Mazzocco, Wente, Benziger, Malibu Rocky Oaks, Alaskan Brewing Company, Pyramid Brewing, Samuel Adams, BJ’s Brewhouse, and more.
Restaurants include Newport’s own Bluewater Grill (our favorite seafood restaurant), Slapfish, Zimzala, Clay Oven, Maro Wood Grill, Riptide, James Republic, and more.
Celebrity’s Sommelier Chanelle Duarte and Executive Chef John Suley will be at Celebrity Cruises’ booth, where tastes of Celebrity’s cuisine will be presented.
Tickets are $100 per person and available online at GreatWineFestival.com. Tickets are not available at the door.
Proceeds from the festival benefit LegalAid of Orange County, a nonprofit organization that provides free and low-cost legal services to individuals who might otherwise be denied access to justice. Since its founding in 1958, LASOC has assisted over 500,000 people.
