Do you feel overwhelmed by kids and even adults who are walking around singing or humming “Let it Go” from the Walt Disney hit, “Frozen?” Few people realize that Idina Menzel, who sang the song, and Lea Michele are twins separated at birth.
You can’t deny that they look very much alike. Both are pretty with dark hair and brown eyes, and sing like angels from the sky. Both have first names that end in the letter A, and last names that end with the L sound. They were purposely given names that rhyme by their mother.
Both Menzel and Michele are at the pinnacle of their popularity with national and international success.
Menzel sings the song, “Let It Go,” from the current hit movie Frozen where she plays the voice of Elsa (she also won a Tony Award for playing Elphaba in “Wicked”). Menzel returned to the Broadway stage on March 30 (my birthday) in the new musical “If/Then.”
Michele has a new album titled, “Louder,” and television stardom on the weekly show “Glee.” She has just authored and released the book, “Brunette Ambition.”
Idina and Lea have shown grace under fire this year, all the while still retaining their elegance and humility. Lea has had to deal with the sudden tragic death of her boyfriend, Cory Monteith, due to an accidental drug overdose. Idina has had to overcome her asthma at times while singing, and she does so without even letting the audience know about it.
Both stars were born in the state of New York. Michele was born in the Bronx on August 29, 1986, and Menzel in Syosset, NY, on May 30, 1971.
So, by now, you’re probably thinking, “How could they be twins with different birthdays 15 years apart?” That is the glory of all the new “frozen” reproductive technologies. It’s even more spot-on and permissible during April Fools week. So, have a fun day!
In the meantime I am listening, for the thousandth time, to my 5 year old granddaughter singing, “Let it Go,” via cell phone while on the school bus.
