A collision between a gardening truck and a mini cooper caused MacArthur Boulevard to partially close on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.

The female driver of the mini cooper had to be cut out of her vehicle by the Newport Beach Fire Department, said spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella.

She was transported to a trauma center for further medical treatment, but her injuries were non-critical, she added.

The gardening truck had two passengers, neither of which suffered injuries, Manzella said. There were no other passengers in the Mini.

Police sent out an alert around 4:30 p.m. advising residents to avoid northbound MacArthur Blvd., between San Joaquin Hills Road and Pacific Coast Highway.

The alert initially misidentified one of the vehicles involved as a big rig.

Authorities quickly cleaned up the scene, reopened the lanes and sent out another alert around 4:45 p.m.

The cause and details of the collision are still under investigation.
