• Imitating a firearm. 5:30 pm. 15th Street and Balboa Boulevard. A man was contacted by police. An officer searched the man’s vehicle and found a BB gun that had been altered to appear as a firearm. The man was taken to jail. His bail was set at $500.
• Residential burglary. 8:37 p.m. 100 block of Via Havre. An unknown suspect forced open the side garage door, then entered a residence via an unlocked door in the garage. The suspect stole silver, cash, and jewelry totaling $24,500.
Saturday, Jan. 26
• Use of force. 12:15 a.m. 300 block of Bayside Dr. A Costa Mesa bartender was in an argument with a man. The bartender threw an object at the man, striking him in the face. The bartender was arrested and held on $25,000 bail.
• Battery. 1:44 a.m. 2100 block of W. Oceanfront. Two people engaged in a physical altercation inside of a business. A third person tried to break up the fight and was struck by a suspect who fled the scene before police arrived.
