A wedding ring worth $50,000 was lost or stolen at Pelican Hills Resort and Spa in Newport Beach on Oct. 1, according to police.
The victim left the ring in the locker while she went to get a massage at the spa, said Sgt. Steve Burdette of the Newport Beach Police Department. The lockers come with a key that the customer holds on to while using the spa, he said.
After using the spa, the victim came back to her locker and hurriedly gathered her things, Burdette said. Shortly after leaving the resort she realized the ring was missing and returned, he added.
The ring was not in the locker and could not be located. She contacted the security at the resort, who are also investigating the incident, Burdette said.
